About: Fairmont Charter Elementary School integrates science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics into an engaging and exploratory curriculum for students in TK - 6th grade. Students are celebrated for their strengths and talents, and develop the academic, social, and emotional skills needed to succeed. It is the mission of Fairmont Charter Elementary School to work in partnership with families and community members to prepare students to be compassionate, thoughtful, creative, and responsible citizens in an ever-changing global society. Fairmont has been recognized as a Gold Ribbon School by the California Department of Education and with a Gold Award from the California Behavior Intervention and Support Coalition. The school is located in the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified school in Solano County and implements sustainable practices. At Fairmont, students develop an understanding of the world around them and how they can make the world a better place.

Enrollment Paperwork: To Pre-Enroll at Fairmont, families submit a Request to Enroll and sign the Fairmont Family Agreement. Should there be space for their child, families have until March 31st to complete VUSD Registration paperwork.

About Earnest Kimme Charter Academy for Independent Learning: KCAIL offers students in 7th through 12th grade unique and innovative learning opportunities in a virtual school setting. The Independent Learning Pathway utilizes a blended approach to learning through independent study, online coursework and virtual classroom instruction. Classes meet regularly via Zoom and students are supported in their independent courses through a weekly meeting with their Personal Learning Plan teacher.  The staff makes every effort to ensure that the experience for each student at the Ernest Kimme Charter Academy is customized to their unique needs.

About Kimme Work Readiness and Alternative Pathway: WRAP is focused on supporting students find their career passion for life after high school. Our program is designed for students in grades 10 through12. We are an in-person, 5 day a week program that provides a small learning environment where students can focus on either credit recovery or acceleration. We work with all students to develop essential skills for their chosen career path after high school. Career exploration occurs through our Advisory program, Guest Speaker Series, Virtual Job Shadowing, and coming soon: Internships. Interested families can complete an Enrollment Interest Form and a staff member will contact them to set up an enrollment orientation. Tours and Meetings: Enrollment at Ernest Kimme Charter Academy for Independent Learning (KCAIL) pathway is ongoing. About: Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy prepares students for post-secondary education and life-long success by providing them with the opportunities and guidance to develop their potential. BCCA students are prepared to graduate with the skills necessary to move directly into a 4-year university or career certification. Students will also learn the importance of respect, civic responsibility, global awareness, and social and cultural diversity appreciation. Career pathways offered include Graphic Design, Engineering, and Musical Performance. We provide a robust theater program and host the VUSD HydraRobotics team. We also offer 10 sports and over 20 student-led clubs.

Sierra Vista K-8 School (Not a Charter School)

Dates: Enrollment packets will be accepted beginning January 8th through February 16th, 2024.

About: Sierra Vista K-8 is currently VUSD's only kindergarten through 8th grade school. The mission of Sierra Vista K-8 is to prepare all students to be respectful leaders through service to their community, while preparing all students to be college and career ready. Sierra Vista K-8 has a school-wide AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program. AVID prepares K-12th grade students for four-year college eligibility, and focuses on bringing out the best in each individual student. With a focus on organization, goal-setting, inquiry and collaborative learning, AVID helps every Sierra Vista student succeed.

Tours and Meetings: Parent Information Night for incoming seventh grade students is Tuesday, January 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room.

ACE (Alternative Cooperative Education) Program

Dates: Interest Forms Submission Dates: January 9th, 2023 to February 10th, 2023

About: The mission of the Alternative Cooperative Education (ACE) program is to create a cooperative community dedicated to helping each child reach their full potential. ACE incorporates parent involvement, multi-age classrooms, and learning outside of the classroom to help support and encourage each student's unique and individual development. Our goal is to empower children to reach their potential in a supportive atmosphere where they experience joy, creativity, and self-confidence while learning about themselves and the world around them.

Tours and Meetings: All interested parents are encouraged to attend any of our informational events. Please be sure to check in with the main office upon your arrival on campus.

If the number of students interested in enrolling exceeds the capacity of ACE, students will be enrolled in order of the enrollment priority grouping per our Program Guide. If the process reaches a group that cannot be fully accommodated a lottery will be held on March 26, 2024 and families will be notified of their status within 3 business days of the lottery.

VECHS

Vacaville Early College High School (VECHS) Program

Dates: Enrollment applications accepted January 23rd through March 27th

Information Night: Thursday, February 29, 2024

About: Vacaville Early College High School (VECHS) offers VUSD students the opportunity to earn free college credits through an educational partnership between Solano Community College and Vacaville Unified School District. Students graduate with a high school diploma and up to 60 transferrable college credits, possibly earning an Associates degree by the time they graduate from high school. The VECHS program is designed to prepare students for college success by providing them with rigorous coursework and college classes beginning in the 9th grade. The program is available to all students in grades 9 through 12. Classes are taught at both Will C. Wood and the Solano Community College Vacaville Center. The VECHS curriculum focuses on college preparatory and college level courses with a focus on career exploration and college readiness. The VECHS program is structured to challenge all students, and may be especially beneficial for students who are from family demographics that are typically underrepresented in college, and those students who may be the first in their family to attend and complete college.

SPICE

SPICE (Spanish/English Peer Immersion and Cultural Education) Program

Dates: Enrollment is limited to kindergarten students only.

About: SPICE is a dual language immersion program offered at Markham Elementary School. SPICE offers students an exciting opportunity to learn to read, write, and communicate in both Spanish and English. This program combines students from two language groups in one classroom and teaches them in both languages. SPICE classrooms include balanced numbers of English, Spanish and bilingual speaking students, gradually working towards a goal of teaching half of the school day in each language. The curriculum taught in the SPICE Program is aligned with State Standards in all areas. Enrollment in the SPICE Program is limited to new kindergarten students, and parents are asked to commit a period of 7 years (K-6) to the program.

Interested parents must attend one (1) Parent Information-Recruitment meeting and one (1) classroom tour.

GATE

GATE (Gifted and Talented Education)

The Mission of the GATE program is to provide an enriched and differentiated curriculum and appropriate learning experiences for identified gifted and talented students. Standards-based curriculum supported with the elements of depth, complexity, novelty and acceleration ensure that students are provided with challenging learning experiences. Through a differentiated approach, students will develop their intellectual, emotional, creative and social gifts to the fullest.

The focus of our elementary GATE services starts in the regular classroom. The elementary GATE Program at VUSD is implemented in the form of cluster groupings and enrichment activities. Cluster groupings are groups of identified GATE students within a regular classroom. Gifted students will be offered challenging & enriching activities commensurate with their abilities by their classroom teacher. Enrichment programs occur after the school day and on weekends.

Vacaville Elementary

Vacaville Elementary Independent Study Program (VISP)

Vacaville Elementary Independent Study Program (VISP) is designed for elementary students in grades K-6. This homeschool program provides a format for supporting a parent-guided educational process. Parents will take a significant and active role in their child's instruction while working with an independent study teacher. VISP assists with the curriculum aligned with the district's approved course of study and with the state grade level expectations. VISP focuses on ensuring an excellent educational program structured for each student's strengths and needs. The program is located at Orchard Elementary School.
