Principal's Message

August 8, 2017

This letter is to express my gratitude and appreciation in becoming the new Principal at Buckingham Charter Magnet High School (BCMHS). I feel very fortunate to have found a district and school that will allow the application of my experience and desire to make a difference in serving a talented and accomplished school community.

Within this past year, I have been a graduate student at the University of Washington working on my Ed.D in Educational Leadership. Prior to this, I had served as Principal of TAF Academy, an awarding winning STEM school consisting of grades 6-12. With an intensive focus on student achievement, we were recognized as a Washington State School of Excellence for five consecutive years. Prior to TAF Academy, I served as Assistant Superintendent, Principal and Assistant Principal. Additionally, I have served as District-wide Redesign at Stanford University.

BCMHS provides me with the unique opportunity to lead a deeply dedicated and talented team of educators who have forged an incredible partnership with students, parents and families. I truly look forward to the continued focus on building community and developing a commitment to the mission of BCMHS.

In order to support the work of our students, we must continue to foster a school culture that supports and encourages every student to reach high standards and to gain insight into their own unique gifts. Our smaller school size, regular interaction between students, expert teachers and staff forms the dynamic foundation our students need to face a rapidly changing future. Our educational approach is unique and incredibly valuable for preparing citizens of the 21st century. As a team, we are honored by the partnership that exists during this important part of your student’s life journey.

With great pleasure, I would like to welcome the other new members of the BCMHS team:  Brittany Schuetz for Social Science, Gina Hayes for Resource, Annaly Sandoval, our new counselor and Bill Ewing will be joining our team as an additional Assistant Principal.

I am very excited for the start of my first year as principal of BCMHS and look forward to having an excellent year!
